New archaeological discoveries in Altai
8 October were key activities of the VIII week of education of member States of the Shanghai cooperation organization “Education without borders”. Among them – the opening of the exhibition . on recent archaeological discoveries on the territory of Altai Krai and the Altai Republic.
The exhibition prepared by the Museum of archaeology and Ethnography of Altai ASU during the implementation of the megagrant of the Government of the Russian Federation “the Ancient settlement of Siberia: the formation and dynamics of cultures in North Asia”. The event was organized by the staff of the Department of archaeology, Ethnography and museology Professor Alexey A. Tishkin. and senior lecturer Nikolay Nikolaevich Seregin.
Guests of the Museum were presented valuable exhibits of the section “Development of the silk road Altai”, collected during archaeological excavations in the Altai territory and the Altai Republic and on the territory of modern Mongolia. Among them – found in the tombs fragments of Indian and Chinese silk clothes, ancient coins, glass paste from which beads were made, mirrors the work of Chinese craftsmen and imported other articles of archaeological monuments of Altai. Not less interesting materials Turkic bulan-Koba, trostchenko cultures. Excavations were conducted by the Department of archaeology of the ASU.
The exhibits clearly demonstrate that already in the early iron age Altai had extensive contacts with razlichnihmi world. The most close contacts have been established with India and China.
On the opening day the exhibition was visited by many participants of the SCO forum – members of the delegations of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as students who came into the next room of the building “D” at the opening of the centers of studying of Russian language in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. A fascinating tour for them was held by the employees of the Museum of Henrikas Leone Nekhvedovich and Elena Zakharovna Goncharova.
